Separate revenue from contribution
Look at what remains after the direct costs of each product or service. A fast-selling line may contribute less than a smaller one once discounts, fulfilment and returns are included. Review the mix before committing to a larger sales target.
Check the cash behind the growth
Sales on paper do not pay salaries until customers pay you. Compare collection periods, supplier terms and inventory levels. Expansion that needs more stock and longer customer credit can put a profitable business under cash pressure.
Choose one measurable improvement
Pick a specific priority, such as reducing avoidable discounts or improving collections. Assign an owner, set a baseline and review progress regularly. Scale once you can see that growth strengthens the business rather than stretching it.
